Young and ‘In Track’

Description

The history of travel, roaming and flight has been given form in an exciting, stimulating and literally dangerous journey through time. The exhibition has been installed in Arena, the centre for young people, culture and tourism previously known as Sleepin. The exhibition consists of a labyrinth of wooden cases and rooms throughout the building which are connected by stairs, corridors and a real, wobbly rope bridge over the courtyard. Each room focusses on a different aspect of travelling and roaming. The displays bring a treasury of associations and memories to life without an excessive amount of text and explanation. Young people who have to flee violence or poverty are also considered.
The exhibition was commissioned by the Stichting Nederlands Jeugdmuseum.
