75 Years of the Treasures of Tutankhamun

Description

During her state visit to Egypt, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands donated an entirely new Tutankhamun hall to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. A project document was drawn-up by Studio La Meul in preparation for the refurbishment. The hall was completely cleaned in accordance with the recommendations and painted in pharaonic blue. The display cases were moved to improve the visitor flow and refurnished. They were also all fitted with LED lighting and climate control. A half-transparent, sunlight resistant curtain for the windows maintains the internal climate indoors while keeping the exhaust gasses and soot particles out. The staff have also been trained in the maintenance of the various systems.
